The effect of human relations training as the program to improve the ability of university employees


Abstract
This study ascertained the effectivity of Human Relations Training as the program to improve the ability of university employees. For this study, 338 employees of one private university had taken Human Relations Training, evaluated and reported the training and themselves after it. Thus this study analyzed the change and difference in their quality of life, communication climate, and conflict management mode through their reports and three kinds of testing before the training and in a month after it. Here is the result.
1. The general characteristic of these university employees is many numbers of high-educated married women in more than forties who have worked for over 20 years. Especially most administrative staffs consist of this school graduates. By occasion, many administrative staffs and technical staffs are high-educated women in their thirties and forties, while many functional staffs are low-educated men in their forties and fifties.
2. Participants of this study recognized self-understanding and self-acceptance as the most effective field and other-understanding and other-acceptance secondly. Through the training, they have improved their self-expression, heightened the intimacy, and obtained the affirmative way of thinking. In addition, they responded that they didn¢¥t become only better in self -disclosure and self-management, but their affection of work place as well as their cooperative spirit and interpersonal relationship skill became increased.
3. Quality of life, conflict management mode, and communication climate became different before and after the training as follows: in the quality of life, they generally showed the affirmative but not distinctive change after the training. In the conflict management mode, the cases of compromise and cooperation got remarkably increased. The communication climate comparatively became defensive. In fact it didn¢¥t have distinguished difference after and before, but in more details, the impartial mode became much multiplied after the training.
In short, participants recognize that they have improved the ability of understand accepting themselves and others. There is no distinctive change in the quality of life. However, in the conflict management mode, comparatively defensive mode appeared, but, after the training, the equal mode became increased.
